Vacancy for PHA Senior R&D Programme Manager

 

The Health & Social Care Research & Development Division of the Public Health Agency (HSC R&D Division) seeks to recruit a highly motivated individual with appropriate qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills to join the Division’s Senior Management Team and in a strategic leadership role to support the ongoing implementation of the HSC Research & Development Strategy – Research for Better Health & Social Care (2016-2025).

The appointed individual will need to demonstrate effective leadership skills, will have a high level of autonomy, self-drive, and will be able to manage multiple priorities. They will act as an expert resource, providing highly specialised advice on research and development issues within the health and social care research landscape, and they will act as an ambassador and represent the interests of the Northern Ireland research community, patients and service users and, as such, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required for this role.

As part of the Senior Management Team, and working with the Assistant Director HSC R&D Division (AD), the postholder will be required to provide professional leadership, both strategically and operationally in all aspects of the successful delivery and accountability of the research and development budget on behalf of the Department of Health. A detailed understanding of health and social care research and delivery and health and social care research funding is required and the postholder will provide specialist scientific, financial and management input to ensure the proper allocation, administration and performance management of the various awards, grants, research programmes and initiatives funded by HSC R&D Division. The postholder will also have responsibility to play a lead role in organisational change, and in service development and innovation in the delivery of HSC R&D Division’s work programme.
