Fellowship Award Scheme

The Health & Social Care Research & Development Division of the Public Health Agency (HSC R&D Division) supports applications to the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Fellowships award scheme, which is designed to continue the development of research capacity in support of the HSC.

Applications to the scheme are managed by the National Institute of Health Research Trainees Coordinating Centre (NIHR TCC) on behalf of HSC R&D Division, 

Fellowships included:

  • Doctoral Research Fellowships (DRF)
  • Post-Doctoral Fellowships (PDF)
  • Career Development Fellowships (CDF)
  • Senior Research Fellowships (SRF)
  • Transitional Research Fellowship (TRF)

ROUND 11 AWARDS

HSC R&D Division in conjunction with the National Institute of Health Research Trainees Coordinating Centre (NIHR TCC), England are inviting applications for the eleventh round of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Fellowships award scheme. Applications to the scheme are managed by the NIHR TCC.  The scheme is open to applicants from Northern Ireland. Awards made to NI applicants are subsequently funded and managed by HSC R&D Division.

NIHR Fellowships are designed to support researchers whose work focuses on people and patient-based clinical and applied health research. Applications are invited from individuals working in any scientific discipline or sector, within an institution sited in England, Wales or Northern Ireland, who can demonstrate a role in, or contribution to, improving health, health care or services. 

Fellowships are available at five levels; Doctoral Research Fellowships (DRF), Post-Doctoral Fellowships (PDF), Career Development Fellowships (CDF), Senior Research Fellowships (SRF), and Transitional Research Fellowship (TRF). The fellowships provide funding primarily for salaries with a contribution towards research costs.

For Round 11 the closing date for all post-doctoral levels is 1pm on 5 December 2017. Applications for the doctoral level closes at 1pm on 19 December 2017.
